George Kurtz, the CEO of CrowdStrike, explained that the issue was due to a defect in a single content update for Windows hosts. He assured that this was not a security incident or a cyberattack. The problem was quickly identified, isolated, and fixed. Kurtz emphasized that Mac and Linux systems were not affected by this update.
In a message on social media X, Kurtz stated, "CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated, and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website."
He further assured that CrowdStrike's team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of their customers. They are working closely with impacted customers and partners to restore all systems.
Kurtz also shared a letter sent to CrowdStrike’s customers and partners, committing to full transparency on the incident and the steps being taken to prevent future occurrences. A technical update and root cause analysis will be provided to everyone as the situation is resolved.
