Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra bagged silver medal in the men's javelin throw event at Paris 2024 Olympics, clinching his second Olympic medal.
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with an Olympic record throw of 92.97 metres.
Neeraj's mother Saroj Devi said, "We are happy. Neeraj's silver is like gold to us." The 26-year-old registered his season-best throw of 89.45 metres to win silver medal.
"The athlete who won gold is also like our son." Arshad bagged gold with an Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters.
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, had three of the overall best four throws in the final. He recorded 92.97 metres in second attempt, 91.79 meters in sixth attempt.

Neeraj Chopra's 89.45-metre throw was overall the third-best throw. Nadeem also threw 88.72 metres to record fourth-best throw.
He is a retired construction worker's son. He spent time at home studying javelin techniques and often watched videos of Neeraj Chopra for inspiration.
The 27-year-old started competing in javelin throw events in 2015. Arshad previously won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with a 90.18-metre throw.
Neeraj Chopra congratulated Arshad Nadeem, for breaking the Olympic record with a 92.97-metre throw and winning the gold.
"I have been competing against Arshad since 2016, but this is the first time I have lost to him," Neeraj said. "But credit where credit is due... He was better than I was," he added.
